Dr Dozie Ikedife has denied having ties with the nefarious fake IPOB groups formed by Muhammadu Buhari and the Movement for the Enslavement of Niger Delta (MEND). The phantom groups, The Re-branded Indigenous People of Biafra, TRIPOB, and Renegade Indigenous People of Biafra, RENIPOB, claiming to be a breakaway faction from the Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOP, while stating their merger nominated Charles Okah, the MEND leader and Dr Dozie Ikedife as their Deputy leader. However, in a swift reaction, Ikedife's group which goes by the name the Customary Government of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), denied any links with the phantom groups.
