Jolted by the sophistication and employment of high technical skills in their actions, 'General' Muhammadu Buhari has feared that those blowing up pipelines were not ordinary Nigerians. The President who was in doubt about the sophistry of the perpetrators felt that the militants were getting help from highly skilled engineering personnel who were inclined to using their skills negatively. According to him, going into the sea for almost 70 kilometres to blow pipelines with ease were not ordinary. The President spoke, Tuesday, after his investiture as the Grand Patron of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering (NAE), led by its President, Mrs. Joanna Maduka, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Nigerian Army aka Arewa Militants, yesterday, began a security operation code-named Exercise Python Dance, in the five South-East states as part of efforts to ensure a hitch-free Yuletide period, with a warning to groups in the area that they would be the target if they foment trouble during the period. Visible signs of the operation were already in place in Anambra State yesterday, as its step-up headquarters located at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka, was decorated with Army camouflage.

That the operation started with medium use of force (outlawed) in the late night of 29th of May 2016 and in the morning of 30th of May 2016, the joint security taskforces moved from the Onitsha Army Barracks and stormed the event venue along Nkpor-Umuoji Road where they met hundreds of IPOB activists and others who had converged for the Biafran Heroes Day Anniversary.
